Director (I/C) Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA)
INTRODUCTION:
The University has established Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) on 31.12.2009 based on the recommendations of the Distance Education Council, New Delhi vide its letter F.No.DEC/SOU/01/09-10/3815, dated 05.10.2009. Prof. C. Pushpa Ramakrishna, retired Professor of English was appointed as Senior Consultant to the CIQA. Later, Prof. M.S. Hayat, Professor of Urdu was appointed as full-time Director on 11-07-2012. On his superannuation, Prof. S. V. Rajasekhara Reddy, Professor of Geology was appointed as Director, CIQA on 01-09-2015. Prof. Y.S. Kiranmayi, Professor of Business Management was appointed as Director, CIQA on 14-11-16.
The University has merged CIQA with Prof. G. Ram Reddy Research Academy of Distance Education (GRADE) on 13-04-2017 and appointed Prof. G. Pushpa Chakrapani, Professor of Physics as Director, CIQA. As the matter stood thus, the University Grants Commission-Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB) issued detailed guidelines and regulations governing the operationalization of the CIQA as a part of ODL Regulations 2017 and communicated the same to the University, mandating the establishment of CIQA and for observance of its guidelines vide reference to F.No. 2-4/2015 (DEB-III) dated 23 rd June, 2017 ODL Regulations 2017 wherein the activities in detail are to be carried out by CIQA as specified. As already mentioned, the University has created CIQA in 2010 itself, much before the issuance of guidelines, but the same had to be strengthened as per the objectives and functions, as stipulated in the UGC ODL Regulations 2017. Upon completion of the term of Prof. G. Pushpa Chakrapani, on 01-02-2020, Prof.P.Madhusudhana Reddy, Prof of Geology has taken over as the Director CIQA and continuing his services till date.

To undertake training for continuous enhancement of teaching, learning & evaluation processes.
To arrange for internal assessment & feedback from the Partner institutions in Open & Distance Learning.
OBJECTIVES
- To maintain quality in the services provided to the learners of Dr. BRAOU
- To ensure continuous improvement in the entire operations of Dr. BRAOU
- To identify the key areas in which Dr. BRAOU should maintain quality.
- To disseminate information on quality assurance.
- To devise mechanisms for interaction and obtaining feedback from various Branches, Faculties and Departments of Dr. BRAOU.
- To suggest to the authorities of the Dr. BRAOU, measures for qualitative improvement.
- To ensure the implementation of its recommendations through regular monitoring.
- To ensure participation of all stakeholders namely, learners, teachers, staff, parents, society, employers, and Government in quality improvement processes.
- To prepare Programme Project Report and ensure another launch of programme(s).
- Collection, collation and dissemination of accurate, complete and reliable statistics about the quality of the programme(s) of Dr. BRAOU.
FUNCTIONS OF CIQA
- Prepares Programme Project Reports for each programme according to the norms and guidelines prescribed by the UGC-DEB and wherever necessary by the appropriate regulatory authority, having control over the programme;
- Get the Programme Project Report approved by the appropriate authority of the Dr. BRAOU and the UGC-DEB before launch of the programme;
- Oversees the development of Study Learning Material (SLM), integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), setting up of Learning Centres and coordination with Dr. BRAOU and relevant Regulatory authorities;
- Put in place monitoring mechanisms to ensure proper implementation of Programme Project Reports;
- Design annual plans for quality level enhancement at the level of Dr. BRAOU and ensure their implementation;
- Arrange for feedback responses from students, employers and other stakeholders for quality related institutional processes;
- Develops quality benchmarks or parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of the Dr. BRAOU;
- Obtain information from other Higher Educational Institutions on various quality benchmarks or parameters and best practices;
- Organizes workshops or seminars on quality related themes and disseminates the proceedings of such activities to other higher educational institutions.
- Suggests restructuring of programmes of Dr. BRAOU in order to make them relevant to the job market;
- Develops and implements innovative practices in major areas leading to quality enhancement in services to the learners of Dr. BRAOU;
- Creates learner centric environment rather than institution centric environment;
- Cultivates creativity and innovation in the faculty and staff of Dr. BRAOU;
- Adopts measures to ensure internalization and institutionalization of quality enhancement practices through periodic accreditation and audit.
- Conducts and encourages system based research to bring about qualitative change in the entire system;
- Coordinates between Dr. BRAOU and UGC-DEB for various quality related issues or guidelines;
- Records activities undertaken on quality assurance in the form of annual reports
- Coordinates recognition and accreditation of Dr. BRAOU
