BRAOU INAUGURATED TRAINING PROGRAM ON OFFICE ADMINISTRATION FOR JUNIOR ASSISTANTS Hyderabad, February 03, 2025: Centre for Staff Training and development (CSTD) of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), inaugurated one week training program on “Office Administration for Junior Assistants” at its campus on Monday. Prof Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU attended as Chief Guest for the program and he said that the staff working in the public sector should improve their skills in accordance with the modern knowledge coming in their respective fields from time to time. He wished the newly appointed Junior Assistants by TGPSC. Prof.G.Pushpa Chakrapani, Director Academic and Dr.L.Vijaya Krishna Reddy, Registrar attended as guests of honour for the program and spoke on the occasion. Dr.P.Venkata Ramana, Officer Incharge, Centre for Staff Training & Development (CSTD) preside over the program, He said that in the coming days, under the CSTD, training classes will be organized for all Non-teaching and technical staff members of the University to run in a smooth manner.

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT BRAOU Hyderabad, February 28, 2025 Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University, Faculty of Sciences organized National Science Day program on “River Musi and Sustainable Development of Hyderabad” at its campus at on Friday. Prof Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU attended as Chief Guest for the program. Prof Chakrapani said that science should be useful for the society and research should not be a nuisance to the society. He said that since 1980, Musi has become a pollution pit due to the waste released by a company called Siris in the L.B Nagar area. He said that Musi is a river of life and that the people and the government should work together for the revival of Musi. At the same time, he also wanted to keep in mind the problems of the people. He also said that the people are the reason for the pollution of the Musi river and called on the people to protect Musi. Prof. Narasimha Reddy Donthi, Researcher, Campaigner and an Environmental Justice Activist delivered a lecture on “River Musi and Sustainable Development of Hyderabad”. Prof. Narasimha Reddy expressed his concern that the Musi River has become a source of pollution due to increasing urbanization, industrialization and population growth in Hyderabad city. The rapid increase in population density, industrial waste chemicals and sewage have polluted the Musi. He said that it should not only be used for science experiments but also for the day-to-day activities of the people. The research should be done to improve the lives of the people and that it is not good to use excessive chemicals in the fields for higher income and yields. He called for encouraging farmers who practice organic farming. He complained that agricultural laborers should be recognized as skilled workers and that they are being called unskilled labor only to avoid increasing their daily wages. Dr. Reddy explained that over the years, governments have undertaken various programs to revitalize the Musi River, and the solutions suggested by researchers and environmentalists for the rejuvenation of the Musi River, and the efforts made by environmentalists are making governments think about cleaning the Musi River. It is a good sign that the government is also coming forward to clean the Musi River. Prof. G .Pushpa Chakrapani, Director (Academic) & Dean, Faculty of Sciences presided over the program. She explained about the significance of National Science Day. While speaking, she explained that it is an auspicious sign to celebrate the National Science Day in his name to recognize the Raman effect discovered by the famous Indian researcher Sir CV Raman. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS AT BRAOU Hyderabad, March 11, 2025: Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Women’s Development and Extension Centre (WDEC) today celebrated International Women’s Day on “Self Reliance” at its Campus at Jubilee Hills on Tuesday. Prof.G.Pushpa Chakrpani, Director Academic, BRAOU attended as the Chief guest for the program. She said that as part of the “Fit India” program organized across the country under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and UGC to celebrate “International Women's Day” in 69 universities. It is the proud movement for our university. Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University has been selected from Telangana. She expressed her concern that although women are achieving great achievements in all fields, they still facing many difficulties in society. DIGITAL MEDIA HAS NOW BECOME A ONE-WAY COMMUNICATION : Mohan Ramamoorthy · Print and electronic media in crisis with the advent of AI · Editors do not have the freedom and courage to confront the mistakes of governments: Prof.Ghanta Chakrapani, V.C · BRAOU Organised Narla Memorial Lecture Hyderabad, March 15, 2025: Sri Mohan Ramamoorthy, Associate Dean, Asian College of Journalism, Chennai delivered the Twenty-ninth Narla Memorial Endowment lecture on “Future of Journalism in Digital /AI Era” at Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Open University Hyderabad on Saturday. Sri Mohan Ramamoorthy expressed concern that with the spread of digital media, it is now becoming a one-way communication system, reducing the income of print media along with decrease in the number of news readers and the curiosity to read newspapers. He also his expressed concern that with the advent of digital media and AI, print and electronic media are facing a crisis. The artificial intelligence is only useful to a certain extent in journalism, but it is good to use it to the extent that it is used, he warned that negative situations will arise if used excessively. The technology also helps in collecting and analyzing information quickly, sending it to media organizations quickly, publishing news, it is useful in reaching the public faster. He said that there are already problems with Digital media / Artificial Intelligence, he wanted to wait for more time to see what kind of results they will provide in the future. He said that after the spread of digital media, more misinformation will spread than valuable information. He believed that media organizations that spend crores of rupees and invest in them, but they are not able to provide news that is useful for the society, that’s why they will not question the governments. Prof.Ghanta Chakrapani Garu, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU who presided over the function, said that the society needs journalists like Narla in the current situation whose values stood as ideal for journalists. Narla's family members are proud to donate books written and collected by him. Ambedkar University established a special library in their university in the name of Narla Library. He expressed his concern that the current editors do not have the freedom and courage to confront the government's mistakes, most of the media organizations have fallen into the hands of capitalists or politicians. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Economics in collaboration with Telangana Council for Higher Education (TGCHE) and Indian Council of Social Science Research-Southern Regional Centre (ICSSR-SRC) organized Two Day National Conference on “Fiscal Federalism in India : Devolution, Development and Economic Dynamics ” March 25 at the University Campus. Prof. Pinaki Chakraborty, Distinguished Professor, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPEP), New Delhi was the chief guest for the Inaugurated the two day National Conference. Prof. Chakraborty said that the 16th Finance Commission visited various states after Covid and focused on economic development and management. Resources and structure should always be coordinated between the need and availability of resources at the central and state levels. He said that an objective assessment of the resource requirements of both the central and state governments and the transfer to the states are not pending at the center. He said that the Finance Commission is working hard to strengthen the framework for financial stability and economic reforms in the country. He revealed that the Finance Commission has increased tax decentralization to 42% to give financial autonomy to the states. He said that during the Covid period, the 15th Finance Commission made a law to provide 41% of taxes to the states. He said that the Finance Commission has ensured equal access to resources to the states by providing more funds to the states with lower per capita income. Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman, Telangana Council for Higher Education was distinguished guest in the conference for his suggestions and services for the economic development of India. He said that South India is on the path of development despite not making the required allocations in the central budget for the last decade. He said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar had formed the Finance Commission in the country. He said that Indian federalism is not only about equal justice, but also about equal distribution of resources. He also said that he wanted a comprehensive discussion on the allocation of financial funds between the North and the South. This conference is not just educational, but also has significance in de-escalating the country economically and politically. He stressed that economic federalism in India is a complex interplay of decentralization, development and economic forces. He expressed concern that the southern Indian states, which are doing very well in development, education and infrastructure construction, are not getting equal rights and shares. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Economics in collaboration with Telangana Council for Higher Education (TGCHE) and Indian Council of Social Science Research-Southern Regional Centre (ICSSR-SRC) organized Two Day National Conference on “Fiscal Federalism in India : Devolution, Development and Economic Dynamics ” concluded at the University Campus. Prof. K. Shivachithappa, Vice-Chancellor, Mandya University, Karnataka was the chief guest for the Valedictory of the two day National Conference. Prof. Shivachithappa said that the southern states are facing financial difficulties and that the states should achieve financial self-reliance, which means increasing the share of states in the funds provided by the Center. He expressed the hope that the Finance Commission will make efforts in that direction as per the suggestions given by the Planning Commission, keeping in mind the inequalities prevailing in the country. Prof. B. Sudhakar Reddy, Honorary Director, ICSSR-SRC, Hyderabad was distinguished guest for the valedictory program. Prof. Sudhakar said that many researches are going on in the universities of the country and ICSSR is providing the necessary financial support for these researches.
